Every two years, the International Sol-Gel Society issues a call for nominations for candidates to be considered for recognition as ISGS Fellows. Recognition as a Fellow of the ISGS reflects sustained and outstanding contributions to the sol-gel science and technology community through broad and productive scholarship; by achievements in commercial and industrial applications of sol-gel science and technology; and/or by outstanding service to the ISGS and the broader sol-gel community. Candidates eligible to be recognised as ISGS Fellows are initially nominated by existing Fellows of the ISGS and an additional three regular members, with three new Fellows then selected from eligible nominees by the Board of Directors of the ISGS.
It is a pleasure for the Board of Directors to announce that Masahide Takahashi (Japan), Professors Maria Zaharescu (Romania) and Michel Wong Chi Man (France) have been selected as ISGS Fellows for 2021. Due to the ongoing situation with the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, it will not be possible for their Induction as ISGS Fellows to be celebrated by the sol-gel community until we gather at the International Sol-Gel Conference in Lyon during July 2022.
