the Inaugural Sakka-Aegerter JSST Award

Professor Sumio Sakka (1930-2023)

The Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology recently announced the creation of the biennial Sakka/Aegerter JSST Best Paper Award, named in recognition of the seminal contributions of the foundation and current Editors-in-Chief of JSST to the development of the journal and the wider sol-gel community. The inaugural award will be presented during the 2024 International Sol-Gel Conference in Berlin, Germany, and thereafter every two years at future International Sol-Gel Conferences. Each biennial award will cele-brate the best paper published in JSST during the preceding two-year period. The paper’s authors will share an award of US$1500, with all co-authors receiving a diploma to recognise their achievement. The JSST Best Paper Award Lecture will be delivered by one of the paper’s co-authors at the corresponding International Sol-Gel Conference.

Professor Michel Aegerter

For each iteration of the biennial award, the best paper will be selected from a short list of papers proposed by the current JSST Editors. The winner will then be selected from the short list by a vote of the Editors, who will consider the novelty of the science/technology presented and the extent to which it extends the field of sol-gel science and technology.
