An Update from the Chairman, Professor Stéphane Parola


Dear colleagues,

It is now less than four months before we gather in Lyon for SOLGEL 2022 after a delay of nearly 12 months. We would like to thank you for the numerous abstracts that we have received for both oral and poster presentations. (nearly 500 were submitted). The conference program will feature nearly 170 oral presentations and 250 poster presentations delivered by colleagues from 30 countries, together with five plenary and over 20 invited lectures. In the meantime, abstract submission will remain open for poster presentations until June. For more information on the Abstract submission procedure, please check the conference website.

Registration for the conference is now open. Before 1 May, regular registration fees are €760, increasing to €900 on or after 2 May. Student accommodation near the conference centre will be available at a special price of €11 per night. The main conference will be preceded by a workshop entitled “Photonic glasses by sol-gel”, where six speaker will explore selected aspects of photonic glasses as part of celebrations for the International Year of Glass 2022. Participation in the workshop will cost €90. An unforgettable tour to Aiguille du Midi – Chamonix will also be available to delegates on Saturday 30 July at a cost of €130 (including lunch in the town centre of Chamonix).
